Blue baby shower punch with kool aid Recipe

Blue baby shower punch with kool aid Recipe

For my shower, I knew I wanted to stray a bit from the typical Hawaiian Punch recipe that’s done so well. As a kid, nothing beat grabbing a pitcher of tasty Kool-Aid on a hot day. So I came up with this retro-inspired twist using everyone’s favorite fruity drink mix.

Alright girlies, let me tell y’all about the main things we’re using for this punch:

This Blue Kool-Aid is so good. It taste like those fruity drinks I loved as a kid. It’s gonna make our party super fun with that blue raspberry flavor. You can swap it for Tropical Punch for a deeper, fruitier sea, or even mix in some grape for a mysterious purple shimmer!

The Pina Colada stuff is my favorite! I love how it taste like the beach with coconut and pineapple. Just one sip and I feel like I’m on a vacation. It’s gon’ transport us straight to the islands! You might whip up a homemade version with fresh pineapple, coconut milk, and a cheeky splash of rum.

We also pouring in some light rum. I’m only using a little bit so it don’t taste too alcohol-y. But it’ll help us relax and have a fun time chatting. Plus it mixes in real good.

Last is vanilla ice cream. I think it’s so cool how it melts into the punch and makes it all creamy. And watching it melt is so fun too! It really makes the drinks extra special and yummy if you ask me. And for my dairy-free friends, coconut milk ice cream or frozen fruit sorbet are just as delicious and inclusive!

Here is Blue Raspberry Pina Colada Punch recipe.

Ingredients

  • 2 quarts water
  • 3 cups sugar
  • 3 family size packets blue raspberry Kool-Aid (you can use unsweetened version)
  • 1 can Pina Colada mix
  • 1 pint vanilla ice cream
  • lemon-lime soda (Sprite, club soda, or ginger ale work too!)
  • Lime slices, cherries for garnish

Instructions

First, I combined the water, sugar and Kool-Aid in my punch bowl like normal. But then I got tropical – poured in the entire can of pina colada mix and gave it a good stir to incorporate all those coconutty flavors.

Once the sugar dissolved and flavors blended seamlessly, then came the fun part – floating scoops of ice cream on top! Watching them slowly melt into the punch over time takes it to a whole new creaminess. You can also top it with sprite or ginger ale.

When serving, I plunked a lime wedge and cherry into each cup for eye-catching color. This punch had all the bright, fruity fun of a blue raspberry slushie, but with some added coconut rum magic. It was a total crowd pleaser, just like I suspected it would be! I also served Blue moon cocktail for some of my guests as they like my blue moon cocktail.

Non Alcoholic version

Since little ones will be around, I wanted to ensure our beverages were totally non-alcoholic. But I also didn’t want to compromise on taste. So I came up with an idea to transform our signature island punch into a booze-free version that’s just as delicious.

I whipped up a batch to serve at our baby sprinkle. This way the whole crew, adults and kiddos alike, enjoyed a taste of the tropics.

Blue baby shower punch with kool aid

Here are the ingredients for my Non-Alcoholic Blueberry Pina Colada Punch:

  • 2 quarts water
  • 3 cups sugar
  • 3 packets blue raspberry Kool-Aid
  • 1 can pineapple juice (instead of pina colada mix)
  • 2 cups lemon-lime soda
  • 1 pint vanilla ice cream
  • Pineapple and cherries for garnish

here’s the real deal on how to make our tropical punch non-alcoholic for baby’s big day:

Into the bowl goes 2 quarts water, 3 cups sugar and 3 packets blue raspberry Kool-Aid. Gonna stir until totally blended.

Now here’s the key – instead of pina colada, I’ll use 1 can of pineapple juice. It’ll deliver those bright tropical vibes without any alcohol.

Next up is the bubbly part. In goes 2 cups of lemon-lime soda like Sprite. The fizz will perk things up nicely.

Floating scoops of vanilla ice cream on top stays for that creamy texture we love.

To serve, I’ll pour it over fresh crushed ice into cups. A slice of pineapple and cherry on the rim finishes it off with flair.

Yields: With all the ingredients I listed, this recipe makes about 2.5 gallons total. Which should be plenty for around 30-40 servings depending on cup size.

Prep time: total time to throw this all together is roughly 15-20 mins. Just a little mixing and stirring – nothing too complex!

Make ahead: This punch is totally make-ahead friendly which I love. I usually whip up the full batch the night before so the flavors blend nicely. Then it’s ready to pour over ice come party time.

Customizable: You all know I’m big on personalization. Feel free to tweak ingredient amounts or even switch up the soda pop used. Get tropical and use ginger ale if ya like!
